BC publishers welcome visitors to our fine province and invite you to explore the beauty, the history, the literary culture, and the dynamism of our province through our literature.
Today the Association of Book Publishers of BC launches Read British Columbia Books at http://books.bc.ca/read-bc-welcoming-the-world/welcoming-the-world/ a literary resource for residents of and visitors to our province.
Did you know that a motley team of Icelandic players from Winnipeg won the very first Olympic hockey gold medal in 1920? Along with The Complete Book of the Winter Olympics there are titles in Read BC on the “Crazy Canucks”, women’s hockey, and Canadian Olympic athletes as well as our mascots: Miga, Quatchi and Sumi.
From public art to City of Glass, Vancouver is a dynamic meeting place of cultures and a youthful, vibrant, urban community. Novelists, poets, historians, and social commentators explore its history as well as its darker and racier sides in such titles as Vancouver Special and Wreck Beach. In addition to cityscapes of the literary kind, many visual portraits of our stunningly beautiful province celebrate this special place.
Check out these and many other BC books in a special partnership the ABPBC has forged with the Vancouver Public Library, Library Square, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, and with the Richmond Public Library, just minutes from the Richmond Oval.
